Our Bush Kindy program recognises the significance of our natural environment and encourages children to reconnect with and appreciate nature while learning how to work together and take turns in a small group environment.
The objectives of the Bush Kindy program include play that is led by the children, with support from the educators. Extension of children’s knowledge and interests is supported through exploration. Sessions are planned but flexible, with clear rules and boundaries put in place to allow children to take risks in a supervised environment. This will be a weekly adventure outside of the kindy.
We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful natural environment surrounding our Kindy and we felt that we could build on this. The lifelong benefits for children in terms of their social and physical development, academic performance as well as reduced stress and overall health has been very well documented. Children and nature simply belong together – in our technology driven lives with ever increasing screen time it is more important than ever before to make these connections with nature and help our children thrive.
